Jakov "Jack" Gasparac was born in Mrkopalz, Yugoslavia on Dec 13, 1895. He listed himself on papers as Croatian (race) and Yugoslavian (nationality). He arrived in New York in 1913, and filed for naturalization in 1938: Coal miner/ laborer, 5'9", 175 lbs., brown eyes and hair, scar on left cheek. Used Jack Gasparich as his name. Jack was one of 34 miners killed in the Wadge Mine explosion of 1942. He was 46 years old.
