Son of Hazard Perry Webster and Margaret Cathcart Webster. On 4 Jun 1870 Joseph enlisted in Company C, 11th U.S. Infantry. He was discharged from the U.S. Army on 6 Sep 1877 at Big House Post, Montana Territory. On 3 Jun 1921 he was admitted to the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers at Hot Springs, Fall River County, South Dakota; Bronchial Asthma. The home discharged him on 16 Jul 1929; he died the following January 1930. The "Domestic History: part of the form states he was a widower; also his nearest relative was H.P. Webster (brother Hulbert Perry Webster), Moline, Illinois.
